Toastmasters want to go to prison
Portuguese Toastmasters are prodigious with initiatives out of the box, giving their best when they organize a Toastmasters Leadership Institute, like the one that happened this year in all the Portuguese Divisions; they prepare well organized conferences, and events outside the clubs, like “Toastmasters with Story”, a session that occurs outdoor, in a monument or historic place, with a thematic related to it.
I believe that these initiatives had a strong impact with the rapid growth we experienced during the last years. But like any product in the market, some regions are now in the maturity period, and the obvious result is that it makes more difficult to create new clubs when we have several some steps away.
This could be a difficulty, but for Division D we can’t face it as a problem, because we have a social responsibility in some social groups where we know that our intervention as Toastmasters could make a difference for many people. Why not explore this opportunities?

We want to go to prison, and create a mental prison break for people asking for an opportunity in a hard closed environment, like a prison is. The Area D1 Director Luis Silva (Luis_Silva), and the Toastmasters involved with this initiative believe that this project could make a difference, not only for people living in difficulty inside a prison, but also for all of us with the privilege of giving and receiving from these people that need a new opportunity, opening horizons for a better society, inside and outside prison.
