The theme: Going Above & Beyond.

Toastmasters Leadership Institute – European Communication School, Brussels, January 30th 2016

In collaboration with the European Communication School, first year event management students got the opportunity to organize & host the Toastmasters Leadership Institute.

Our full-day program included a keynote speech from DTM, Carol Bausor.

Flying in from New York, we were delighted to have as Guest Speaker, Jean-Luc Doumont, co-founder of Principiae and author of Trees, Maps & Theorems. giving a talk on the Three Laws of Communication. Jean-Luc is an expert in effective communication, rational minds and critical thinking.  He has kindly agreed to share his experience and knowledge working with Harvard and Stamford with Toastmasters which is a great honor.

There were six breakout sessions, tackling topics of interest across the various officer roles:

1) Mentoring: Supporting Members

2) Beyond CC & CL: Discover the Advanced Communications & Leadership Tracks

3) Beyond Club Officer: Q& A session – Meet your Area Directors

4) Club Growth: Driving membership

5) Corporate Clubs: What’s in it for me?

6) Rising to the Leadership Challenge: Evaluating your effectiveness & performance

Serge Pegoff, Ambassador for Division B and President of the Brussels Club, updated us on the Revitalised Education Programme (REP).

Division B Contest will be hosted by Toastmasters Lille in their beautiful city on April 23rd 2016. The theme will be multiculturalism.  We are actively looking for a keynote on inter-cultural communication, an apt topic for a very international Division. Stay tuned for more information.
